Couples Counseling

When you reach that point with your partner when you’re no longer feeling understood. When it seems like you’re communicating clearly, but all that seems to be heard are wounds from the past. When intimacy is a distant memory. If this is where you’re at with your partner, therapy is there to help.

I work with couples who are wanting to reconnect and rebuild after feeling unknown, hurt and misunderstood in their relationship. Disconnection happens, and it's important to find ways to understand and feel seen by your partner before the disconnection is too deep to recover from. Sometimes this involves healing from an affair, porn use, or even work addiction; or there are losses around infertility or severe child illness that a couple needs therapy to heal from and find a new way to come back together. My passion is to help couples reconnect, rediscover each other, and once again feel safe with their partner as their trusted person.

Sometimes couples counseling also includes rebuilding intimacy. We will work together to build the foundation of safety amidst vulnerability first. When that is established we will work on open and safe communication so that both partners feel known and secure with each other. This is a journey for you to travel with your spouse and counseling can help you get you what you need to get started on that journey.

I thought I could describe a state; make a map of sorrow. Sorrow, however, turns out to be not a state, but a process.
